Our cover of “Salvador Sanchez” found itself among some very fine company on this mixtape from Wake the Deaf. It truly is an excellent mix. It kept Erika in the house for almost a full day, listening, when it first came out….
We totally had a ball at the “Dress Up” record release show – lots of good people and one of our favorite li’l venues in town. We had intended to post a clip of “Pictures of You”, from the new album, but that song pretty much blew up in our faces, to much bewilderment and awe among all assembled. At least that’s how we recall it. In any case, here’s a more tame capture of a brand new song of ours.
The Stolen Souvenir was produced by Little Silver and Phil Palazzolo.
All instruments / vocals by Erika Simonian and Steve Curtis
Recorded by Phil Palazzolo at Seaside Lounge,
Brooklyn, NY, April – July 2010
Additional recording by Isaiah Abolin
Mixed by Brandon Eggleston at Gold Mine Studios,
Mastered by Oscar Zambrano
It’s been a little bit of a quiet summer… Sorry for not hanging around so much. We’ve given it some thought, and I think it’s safe to say that here’s the reason. All is very well – though a touch disoriented – in Brooklyn. This week we’re back into the studio to begin work on a whole handful of new projects: a small collection of acoustic recordings, tracking basics for a full-band full-length out next year, and some ridiculously awesome work on a new film score, details to come soon. We’ve revved up the blogophone, we’re cracking ourselves UP on twitter, and, you know, hanging out again. Stick around….
Erika recorded a haunting version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” that made this new UNDERCOVER compilation on Maunet, alongside covers performed by the likes of Wilco, Bon Iver, Robyn Hitchcock, Iron and Wine, lotsa lotsa more… Nice write up too. Give a listen here, or download the original recording here.
We’ve posted a video of a brand new song, recorded live at the Rockwood Music Hall this spring, on our Photo & Video page. Check it out!
After a little bit of eavesdropping at the beginning here, this video settles into a pretty good capture of one of our newest songs, called “The Slowing and the Start”. We debuted this song on our spring dates this year, and this recording is from NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall on 4/15/11. Take a listen…
