Erika and Steve – Brooklyn House Concert
We’re playing a stripped down duo show at the home of our good friends Kira Smith and Pete Sinjin on December 2nd. Pete will play a few songs to start, then we’ll play a set, then we’ll do some stuff together. Everyone will BYOB. Friends and neighbors and strangers will fill a home with music. There’ll be stuff to eat. The world is complicated right now. We won’t attempt to fix that, but we’ll have a good time singing for all those interested. Full info is here. Join us!
Willie’s “Red Headed Stranger” at Joe’s Pub
Steve and a host of his pals (including Little Silver’s Ray Rizzo) will perform Willie Nelson’s cowboy operetta “Red Headed Stranger” at Joe’s Pub in NY, NY on Saturday November 26th. Michael Arthur will be on hand to “live-illustrate” the tale of love and betrayal as it unfolds.
This record has gotten a staggering amount of play on Little Silver’s combined stereos and assorted devices through the years, and it’s a great honor to give it a whirl at a spot like Joe’s Pub. Tickets are here, and the Facebook event is here. If you’re at ease with food and family gatherings, come give thanks with us!
Three Ring Bender: The HOOT Setlist!
Ok, good people, get your singing voices warmed up, tuned up, liquored up, whatever it takes, as we are having us a SING at this month’s Three Ring Bender. The Hoot will be in residence. And here’s a wobbly approximation, at best, of what might be sung, so that you may all come ready to join the chorus. Please suggest edits! Additions! These all link to youtube vids, so go learn some songs if you like. In no particular order:
I Ain’t Got No Home In This World Anymore
Hard Times (the Gillian one)
Man of Constant Sorrow (ours I don’t think is the melody you know…)
Presenting the THREE RING BENDER
Ray and I very pleased to announce our monthly residency, called the Three Ring Bender, at Threes Brewing! Each month we’ll learn a bunch of songs — or just plain play them regardless of our level of learning — and invite a musical conspirator out on a limb with us. Early confirmed guests include Pete Galub, Sohrab Habibion, and Annie Nero. Come see how we fare….
The People’s Garden
Both the J train and the rain were well-timed overhead, and we had a total ball. Here we are shaking our booty, and celebrating a wedding anniversary and several successive years of shows at this stupendous garden, a totally out-of-time and out-of-place spot in Bushwick. The kindest folks around in attendance. Happy end of summer!
Mission Studio photos
We recorded an album’s worth of basic tracks this spring at Brooklyn’s Mission Studios in Brooklyn. It was the first time that we’ve had the chance to really settle in for several days of recording with Ray and David, and we wanna do it again, like right now. So fun (and Erika was even 8 months pregnant…). Here’s a link to a photo gallery, all courtesy of Patrick McNulty. Links to music coming before long!

Erika’s 2013 Best-of List
CoolDad Music asked Erika what we liked in 2013, and she put together this list that spans both our taste, and even notes where it overlaps :). ‘Twas a very good year!
